Flat Not For Sale – Says Couple Despite Lucrative Offers

One of the flats located in Punggol, owned by Catherine Low and Brian Chee, has a great view of Pulau Ubin, the Serangoon Reservoir, and a little bit of Malaysia. They can also save a lot on their energy expenses since the 4-bedroom unit already has a steady supply of refreshing breeze as well.

These are just some of the reasons why the couple prefers not to give up their flat located at the Punggol East. In 2014, an agent approached them and gave a price of a whopping $600,000. Very lucrative indeed since they only bought the said flat for only $170,000 in 2007. While most people will probably say “yes” immediately, they chose to decline the offer instead. Before they moved in to the flat, they first submitted a Build-To-Order application in 2003.

The 41-year old father said that they were not tempted to give in despite the high price. He and his family is already comfortable at their unit with its peaceful environment, lush greenery within sight, and quiet ambiance just like many other developments within Singapore such as RiverTrees Residences @ Fernvale, High Park Residences, Adana @ Thomson and Hilbre 28 @ Hillside Drive. Even though Mr. Chee has the background and experience in interior designing, he gave up his career in 2011 to be a stay-at-home father for their 5-year old daughter and 8-year old son.

His wife, Ms. Low said that their neighbors sold their units yet only made small profits from the sale. She said that the price offered may not be enough to get them a new flat that is as good as this. They might need to apply for another loan and would be required to adapt to a new lifestyle in case they move.

Although Mr. Chee admitted that there were times he thought about selling the flat before. And if they do, he considered moving in with his parents to take care of them and the latter to look after the kids at the same time.
